In a place neither here nor there
Love with joy surround me
Strangers though I know them
Swirl in warmth around me
Soon I know I must depart
Go to a way of being
Fear doesn't even cover it
Believing will become seeing
Being small so fragile am I
Open hearted oh so pure
Though I decided to go
Now I feel less sure
It's the world of trials
A world of learning
A world where many scoff
At a curiosity so burning
It had been over a decade
In what is called Earth time
That taught my tender soul
To express it all in rhyme
Skills were learned fast
For a tender one to realize
Far from simple speech
Mostly riddled with lies
Purest of the pure more fragile
Than I could have ever been
Sweet beasts at the mercy
In a world of cruel men
As I move through time
Gaining traction as I go
So many lessons to learn
Much more for me to know
Working on it every day
Careful with my actions
Lest a minor slippage
Sends loved ones away
As I moved through time
Getting older was but a state
Of those who strive to excel
Of we who patiently wait
With lessons learned each day
Until returning to warm fog
A shorter life is the bane
Existing as a puppy dog
